Bespoke Sustainable Office Joinery & Furniture, Hoxton Square, London
Gung Ho’s new Hoxton Square office called for furniture that could hold its own in one of London’s most design-conscious neighbourhoods, pieces with real craft and material integrity, built to last and built sustainably.
We were commissioned by Forward Studio Practice to design and make the full joinery fit-out: a conference table, two bars, zoom desks and multiple shelving units, each piece considered both individually and as part of a cohesive whole.
The materials were chosen for their sustainability credentials and their beauty. Birch ply forms the structural base throughout. Foresso Timber Terrazzo, a striking composite of timber offcuts set in resin, created from waste wood was used for the tabletops, and bio laminate worktops complete the palette. Nothing specified without a reason, nothing wasted without consideration.
The conference table required particular precision, a 10-degree bevel around all leading edges, a detail that required careful joinery to execute cleanly at scale. It’s the kind of considered technical detail that’s invisible when done well and obvious when it isn’t
