Springfield Meadow is a climate-positive, net-zero energy development of 25 homes near Abingdon in Oxfordshire, designed around high-quality placemaking, with shared wildflower meadow, orchard and pond, and a strong focus on biodiversity and community. When Greencore Homes commissioned the kitchen for one of their Passive House plots, the brief was clear: a kitchen that matched the environmental ambition of the development it sat within.
This was our first developer commission and it set the benchmark for everything we’ve done since.
Over 75% sustainable materials were specified and used throughout. The kitchen is contemporary and handle-less, with a simple, clean aesthetic that lets the quality of the materials speak for themselves.
The kitchen specification
- Carcasses made from Ecoboard — bio-based panels produced from agricultural residue including straw, reed and sugar cane. 100% formaldehyde and VOC free, 100% biodegradable. One of the most ecologically advanced panel materials available
- All surfaces recycled, food-safe and made for longevity
- Non-VOC natural vegan paints and oils — no pesticides, herbicides or toxins
- Glueless construction throughout — designed for disassembly and future repurposing
- Recycled plastic components, fully recyclable at end of life. All ironmongery carefully sourced to be fully recyclable
- Appliances selected for build quality, durability and low energy consumption — including a Quooker Fusion Square tap and Miele vented induction hob with integrated extractor
Featured appliances
The Quooker tap dispenses exactly the water needed, no over-boiling, no wasted energy. The Miele vented induction hob with integrated extractor challenges the convention of a separate hood and hob, maintaining a clean contemporary aesthetic while delivering powerful extraction, a particularly elegant solution for kitchen islands.
