Interior Design & Sourcing, project management for Master Bedroom & Living Room, Oxfordshire

A large new-build house with generous proportions and high ceilings that felt more like a show home than a family home. The brief was to bring warmth, personality and a sense of considered living to two key rooms: the master bedroom and the living room.

Master Bedroom

Working with the Tom Raffield steam-bent ply lights already installed in the bedroom, we kept to a natural feel throughout. Organic forms in the wallpaper and furnishings, contemporary oak furniture, and a commissioned bespoke media wall to anchor the space. The dramatic ceiling height called for restraint in the colour palette and neutral tones kept the room calm and spacious, with pops of colour introduced through furnishings, cushions and velvet chairs that brought warmth without weight.

Living Room

The client had a clear love of green and rather than suppress it, we made it the quiet thread running through the whole room. A neutral grey on the walls provided the backdrop, with tonal greens and taupes in the furnishings creating depth and layering. Copper lights, a statement mirror, coffee tables and teal vases introduced character and punctuation pieces that catch the eye without competing with each other.

The oak media wall was made by Philip Koomen one of Oxfordshire’s most respected furniture makers — from slatted solid oak, complementing the Nathan Wong designer drinks cabinet and carrying the natural material language of the bedroom through into the living room.
